About Our Team
Dr. Rally Varlakova
Dr. Varlakova has been a dentist in Sonoma Valley since 2011, and has chosen to put down roots here with her husband and partner, Dr. Lee Tetz. Born in Bulgaria, she comes to Cotati having grown up in Toronto, Canada, and then pursued her BS degree in Nutritional Biology at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She completed her dental school education at the School of Dentistry at Loma Linda University in Southern California.
While a student, Dr. Varlakova was distinguished with Honors in Pediatric Dentistry, was elected to the Dean’s List, and received numerous awards including leadership recognition from the International College of Dentists, as well as clinical awards from the American Association of Pediatric Dentists, and the American Association of Periodontology, among others. She has also taken many continuing education courses in the study of cariology, functional esthetics, laser dentistry, and other specialized dental techniques.
Outside of her dental practice, she enjoys cooking, gardening, exploring foodie experiences, traveling, going to concerts and theatre, doing yoga, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. E. Lee Tetz
Dr. Tetz has was born and raised in Napa Valley, and has returned here with his wife, Dr. Varlakova. He has been to many parts of the world, and thinks there's no place like the North Bay Area. Following dental school at Loma Linda University in Southern California, he completed a General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital on Mare Island, where he had extensive training in complicated surgical procedures, endodontics, implants, etc. He performs many procedures such as root canals, surgical extractions, and implants for our practice. He is also our IT specialist. He takes care of our computer upkeep, and he is our Mr. Fix-It!
While a student, Dr. Tetz was distinguished with Honors in Periodontology, was elected to the Dean’s List, and served as his class Vice President. He has also taken numerous continuing education courses in the study of implantology, functional esthetics, laser dentistry, and other specialized dental techniques.
Outside of his dental practice, he enjoys travelling along the California coastline, building and rebuilding anything and everything, riding steam trains, watching gold mining and logging shows, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Sylvia DeAguiar
Dr. DeAguiar was born and raised in Sonoma County, and is so excited to be home following the completion of her formal edication. She has had many adventures, and thinks there's no place like home! After graduating with honors in acquiring her Bachelor of Science Degree from UC Davis, she completed her dental education at UCSF. She performs all aspects of general dentistry with a gentle and thorough demeanor.
Dr. DeAguiar has participated in numerous local and international mission trips providing dental care and medical relief to underserved populations in Jamaica, Mexico, and several parts of the North Bay area. As a student, she was involved in several outreach organizations, including serving as President of Children’s Health Hut, an organization dedicated to improving the health of Bay Area youth. She pursued
additional certifications in Invisalign® as well as a clerkship in endodontics.
Outside of the practice of dentistry, she is also an adventure guide and kayaking instructor in Tomales Bay!
In her off time, she can be found on a soccer field, on the water, enjoying yoga, tasting delicious bay area
eats, or spending time with her husband Paul, and her friends and family.
Dr. Sara Kwong
Dr. Kwong was born and raised in Marin County. She completed her bachelor's degree at UC Berkeley prior to attending dental school. She graduated from UCLA School of Dentistry magna cum laude in 2017 and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. She then continued her dental training by electing to complete a general practice residency at the Veterans Affairs in Sacramento, where our own Dr Tetz has been teaching residents. There, she had extensive training in complicated surgical procedures, endodontics, implants, etc. She performs many procedures such as root canals, surgical extractions, and implant dentistry for our practice. She has also earned extensive certifications in Invisalign Treatment and really enjoys the facet of her practice.
Dr. Kwong is excited to join our vibrant team, and to put to use her years of experience and advanced skills in caring for our patients. Aside from her dental practice, Dr Kwong also teaches Pharmacology at the Santa Rosa Junior College.
In her free time, Dr. Kwong enjoys early morning CrossFit workouts, baking, and spending time with her husband, Shane, and their dog Pete.
Carrie - Front Office Manager
Carrie is our front office manager, and has graced the team and the staff of the practice with her contagious smile since 2011. She has more than 30 years of experience in the dental field, and enjoys developing long term relationships with our patients and their families. Carrie is here to coordinate your treatment appointments and assist you with maximizing any insurance coverage you may have. Her excellence in coordinating patient care contributes immensely to the family environment that patients make note of when they come in for their check-ups and treatment. She is excited to continue to serve the community for years to come.
In her spare time, she loves to play with her dog, be active, shop, travel, spend time with her family and friends and cheer for the Giants!
Margie, RDA
Margie is our lead registered dental assistant. She was born and raised in Nicaragua, where she attended dental school in Managua. She then immigrated to the United States and settled in Sonoma County, where she lives with her husband and 4 beautiful children. She has been a dental assistant since 2011 and loves what she does!
Margie is passionate about patient care and comfort, as well as learning new techniques and expanding her knowledge to better serve our patients. She is always willing to lend a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on when needed. We are so proud to have her as our lead assistant.
In her free time, Margie enjoys spending time with her family, nurturing a healthy lifestyle, and exploring new restaurants in Sonoma County.
Debbie, RDH
Debbie is our lead dental hygienist. She was raised in Novato and received her undergraduate and postgraduate education at Sonoma State University, eventually leading her to a Master of Arts in Education degree. In 1995, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from UCSF. As an alumna, she returned to the UCSF campus and has served as a clinical dental hygiene instructor for five years.
She joined our practice in 2022 and quickly overhauled our hygiene department to have greater scope, more ergonomic design elements, and the best instrumentation and supplies. Her knowledgeable, and her gentle and comfortable approach has truly been an asset to our practice. Debbie currently also teaches at Santa Rosa Junior College’s highly respected dental hygiene program. Throughout Debbie’s career, her natural desire for teaching and continuing education has fed her passion to stay up to date with the latest dental innovations. Debbie’s commitment to helping patients maintain optimal long-term oral health and overall wellbeing is simply outstanding.
When not immersed in her chosen field, Debbie enjoys spending time with family, running, and knitting.
Janeen, RDH, RDA
Janeen is warm, bubbly, and a sweetheart! She loves her work and helping people have a beautiful, healthy smile. She has known she wanted to be in the dental field since she was 12 years old. She started as a dental assistant in 2004, and then decided she wanted to become a hygienist as well.
After completing the dental hygiene program at SRJC, she has enjoyed her profession as a dental hygienist for nearly 2 decades now.
Janeen was born and raised in Santa Rosa. In her free time, she loves snowboarding, running, cycling, yoga, swimming and music. In addition, she and her husband enjoy cooking or eating out at all the wonderful local restaurants, and attending local live music events.
